Southern wonderland

12 days around Victoria and Tasmania

Southern wonderland guided tourExperience the natural beauty and old world charm that is Victoria and Tasmania.

This scenic tour kick starts from Victoria’s glamorous and exciting capital, Melbourne, then sweeps along the rugged coastline of the Great Ocean Road.

Australia’s magnificent flora and fauna comes alive as you cruise through Hall’s Gap national park. Visit the steam paddle-boat centre of by-gone Echuca on the mighty Murray river, then meander back to Port Melbourne to catch the overnight ferry to picture book Tasmania.

From your arrival at Devonport, the road snakes through natural wilderness parkland to St Helens on the north-east coast. A leisurely ride along the breath-taking eastern coastline lands you in the fishing town of Bicheno.

Southern wonderland escorted tour - australiaThe Tasman highway then guides you through many historic towns en route to Australia’s second oldest city, Hobart.

Awaiting you is the awe-inspiring road through the Franklin-Gordon wild rivers national park, part of Tasmania’s spectacular world heritage area. From the gates of hell at Strahan you’ll see first hand the corrosive moonscape that is the old mining town of Zeehan on your way to the sweeping north west coast and Stanley.

From the birthplace of Australia’s tenth prime minister, the Bass highway hugs the coast most of the way to Tasmania’s second city Launceston. From here it’s back to Devonport and the ferry bound for the adult playground of Melbourne.
